Goal Setting: The Benefits
We often hear talk about Goal Setting and the benefits of it. But
is goal setting really that beneficial
in itself? In 1953 a Goal Setting Survey was done on a graduating class at Yale University to see how many of the students had written goals. Only 3% of them had. The other 97% had goals to varying degrees, but had not written them down. 20 years later, the same group was interviewed again, and the 3% who had, as students, written out their goals had amassed more money than the other 97% combined. Money is only one way to gauge success, but it’s the most common benchmarks in business and in this case serves to prove that written goals result in more achievement than those which are not written down.
