Here is a list compiled from researching a variety of sources. In general everyone seems to agree on what is required for success, the only variation is in what order the items appear.

However the first 4 listed here constantly appear as the front runners.

1. Passion for what they do - they love what they do, and are passionate about it. This is the number one success trait in any successful business or career person.

2. Motivation – they have the ability to get started on things with drive and gusto. Often their passion is their motivating factor.

3. Persistence & Determination - They hang in there when the going gets tough.

4. Optimistic – they have a cheerful, "I can do it" outlook on life and don’t let set backs get them down … at least not for long. This is a success trait not to be missed.

5. Continuous Learners – they have inquiring minds and are always into finding out about something new.

6. Research – they investigate and analyze so they know what they’re doing, where they’re going and what to expect.

7. Attention to Detail – they realize that small details can be important and pay attention to them accordingly. A success trait not to be overlooked!

8. Organization – it’s hard to keep tabs on things when your life is in confusion. Successful people are organized.

9. Patience – they understand that success means sticking with it will it starts to work.

10. Focus on today – they realize that the only time they have is NOW – yesterday is gone, tomorrow has yet to come … the only time they/ we have to make a difference is now. 11. Stable – they are reliable, and stable. They can weather the storm and stick with their commitments.

12. Honesty and integrity - they know that it takes only a second to destroy trust and a lifetime to rebuild it. A success trait that sometimes gets ignored when things get tight.

14. Open to New Ideas – they realize that any idea can be turned into a good idea, and so are willing to listen to almost any ideas that is offered. They then analyze it and use it as is, changing it to fit, or shelving it as not relevant at the moment.

15. Open to Change and Variety – they are familiar with the saying "keeping on doing the same thing the same way and expecting a new outcome is a definition of insanity." If you want something different, you have to be willing to do something different.

16. Straightforward and Direct. They don’t evade either issues or discussions. They are prepared to take the bad with the good, deal with it as best they can and keep moving forward.

20. No Fear of Failure - They do not fear failure, they know that failure is not just falling down. Failure is falling down and not getting up again.
